Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Planning Lead to drive environmental, infrastructure and strategic planning projects across markets. You will lead bid preparation, coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and ensure delivery to time and budget.

You will mentor junior colleagues, manage client relationships, support market growth and maintain high standards of technical delivery.

Qualifications

  • A Planning degree is required.
  • RTPI membership is desirable.
  • Chartered experience on major infrastructure projects.
  • Experience leading large TCPA applications with delivery track record.
  • Lead roles in DCO, Hybrid Bill, Highways Act or TWAO.
  • Solid knowledge of the EIA process and environmental expertise.
  • Experience in Strategic Planning and Planning policy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience delivering multiple assignments on time and within budget.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Commercial coordination and project management experience.
  • Ability to win work and support market growth.
  • Develop client relationships and input effectively as an individual.

Responsibilities

  • Lead coordination and delivery of environmental work by multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Support team leaders with commercial and resource management of projects, bids and local teams.
  • Champion high standards of technical delivery in multidisciplinary engineering projects.
  • Collate and edit information from various sources to produce clear reports.
  • Deliver own work to a high standard and review others’ output on time and within budget.
  • Manage clients’ needs professionally.
  • Undertake CPD to meet the requirements of the chosen professional institute.

Job description

• Act as Planning Lead on projects across a range of markets and sectors
• Lead in bid preparation, tender submissions and framework responses
• Act as lead consultant for multi-disciplinary projects and take responsibility for project management and project delivery
• Provide support to junior colleagues and the Planning team leaders
• Work in a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment with colleagues in environmental, engineering and design disciplines
• Engage with market and client leads to support business growth and development opportunities
• Lead on the coordination and delivery of environmental work being undertaken by multi‑disciplinary teams
• Support team leaders and practice management with the commercial and resource management of projects, bids and local teams
• Champion high standards of technical delivery within multidisciplinary engineering projects
• Collate and edit information from a range of sources to provide clear, well written reports
• Competently undertake own work to an excellent standard, and review the work of others, on time and to budget
• Manage clients' needs in a skilled, professional manner
• Undertake Continual Professional Development (CPD) in accordance with requirements of chosen professional institute

Requirements

  • A relevant Planning degree
  • RTPI membership is desirable
  • Chartered experience and working major infrastructure projects
  • Experience in leading large scale TCPA application with a successful track record for delivery
  • Experience in holding lead roles within a DCO, Hybrid Bill, Highways Act or TWAO
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the EIA process and environmental technical expertise
  • Experience and knowledge in Strategic Planning and Planning policy
  • Work under pressure, with excellent time management and success in meeting tight deadlines
  • Manage and work on multiple assignments delivering outputs on time and within budget
  • Work well as part of multi-disciplinary teams with the confidence to input effectively as an individual
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in commercial coordination and project management
  • Flexibly apply knowledge and experience to a wide variety of planning-related tasks
  • Experience in work winning and supporting market growth
  • Demonstrable ability to develop client relationships
