Job Description

Our customer, a leading law firm, is seeking a Planning Lawyer for a 6-month contract role, seconded to a major infrastructure client. The role will focus on supporting the planning and consenting stages of nationally significant infrastructure projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide legal advice on planning and consenting matters related to the development of large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Support the preparation, submission, and examination of Development Consent Orders (DCOs).
  • Advise on planning policy, environmental impact assessments, and stakeholder engagement during pre-application and examination phases.
  • Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to facilitate the successful progression of infrastructure projects through the planning system.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Qualified solicitor or equivalent with demonstrable experience in planning law.
  • Direct experience with DCO processes and supporting the delivery of major infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of relevant planning legislation and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
