A legal recruitment agency is seeking an experienced Locum Planning Lawyer to join a Local Authority in the Midlands on a part-time basis. This remote role involves advising on Planning Law, drafting legal agreements, and attending monthly Planning Committees. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of experience and be confident in advising senior officials. Flexible working hours and a supportive work environment are provided.

Job description

Locum Planning Lawyer – Part-Time (Remote Working) – up to £60 per hour Umbrella

Venn Group’s specialist legal team are currently working with a Local Authority in the Midlands who are seeking an experienced Planning Lawyer to join their team on a part-time locum basis.

Role Overview:

• Focused solely on Planning Law
• Advising Planning Officers on all aspects of planning legislation
• Drafting Section 106 and Highways Agreements
• Supporting and attending Planning Committees once per month in person

Key Requirements:

• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Planning Law preferred
• Proven ability to advise at senior level, including engagement with elected members and senior officers
• Confident working autonomously and able to hit the ground running
• Previous experience handling politically sensitive matters

Working Arrangements:

• Approx. 20 hours per week (with some flexibility depending on workload)
• Flexible working hours
• Fully remote role, with the exception of monthly evening Planning Committee attendance
