Job summary

South Gloucestershire Council is seeking an experienced Solicitor specialising in Planning and Highway law to join the Legal Services team in Yate. The role involves delivering high-level legal expertise and providing representation in tribunals and courts.

As part of the Place Team, the postholder will advise on complex cases, support committee processes, and work with multi-disciplinary colleagues to ensure robust, compliant decision-making.

Qualifications

• Professional qualification in law and substantial operational experience in a complex organisation.
• Proven ability to manage and develop a team while ensuring effective service delivery.
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and codes of practise.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing across levels.
• Strategic problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

Responsibilities
