Job summary

Rullion Ltd in Whitehaven is seeking a Planning Engineer/Senior Planning Engineer to join a long-term framework on a 12-month contract. You will develop and maintain Primavera P6 schedules, analyse progress, and support project forecasting and change control within NEC contract environments.

The role requires nuclear-sector experience, strong communication, and the ability to mentor junior planners while working in a hybrid setup with the client and delivery teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years' experience in a project planning role within engineering, construction, or nuclear sectors.
• Experience of working on projects on nuclear sites.
• Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 and other planning methodologies.
• Proficient in creating detailed costed & resourced schedules, progress updates, and performance analytics.
• Strong experience of planning projects on Fixed Price and/or Target Cost NEC Contracts.

Responsibilities

• Develop, update and maintain full lifecycle P50 project schedules in Primavera P6, ensuring accuracy of deliverables and alignment with project objectives and delivery targets.
• Update and maintain Programme-level tactical/delivery plans.
• Understand baseline management and effective implementation of change.
• Support project forecasting, progress reporting, and scenario planning with Project Managers.
• Generate resource profiles to support efficient deployment of project resources.
• Produce and interpret earned value management (EVM) metrics, critical path analysis and float erosion outputs.
• Ensure programmes comply with NEC 3/4 contract requirements and utilise CEMAR for contract management activities.
• Attend progress meetings to capture schedule updates and provide insight on programme performance.
• Mentor and develop junior members of the planning team.

Location - Whitehaven hybrid working

Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of an established team working on a large, long-term framework. This role offers the chance to work in a dynamic and forward-thinking environment to deliver projects. The successful candidate will work closely with the Planning Manager, Project Managers, multi-disciplinary project teams, and the Client on a diverse portfolio of challenging projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop, update and maintain full lifecycle P50 project schedules in Primavera P6, ensuring accuracy of deliverables and alignment with project objectives and delivery targets.
• Update and maintain Programme-level tactical/delivery plans.
• A strong understanding of baseline management and effective implementation of change.
• Work closely with Project Managers to support project forecasting, progress reporting, and scenario planning.
• Generate resource profiles to support the efficient deployment of project resources across the framework.
• Produce and interpret earned value management (EVM) metrics (including performance analysis and variance reporting), critical path analysis and float erosion outputs.
• Ensure programmes comply with NEC 3/4 contract requirements and utilise CEMAR for contract management activities.
• Attend regular progress meetings to capture schedule updates and to provide clear insight on programme performance and critical path impacts.
• Mentoring and development of junior members of the planning team.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years' experience in a project planning role within engineering, construction, or nuclear sectors.
• Experience of working on projects on nuclear sites.
• Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 and other planning methodologies.
• Proficient in creating detailed costed & resourced schedules, progress updates, and performance analytics.
• Strong experience of planning projects on Fixed Price and/or Target Cost NEC Contracts.
• Experience of producing and maintaining risked, P50/P80 underpinning schedules.
• A positive can-do attitude, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail with the ability to work effectively across diverse project teams.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with IWM (Integrated Work Management) is desirable.
