Job summary

Careys is seeking a Planning Engineer to join our Glasgow Planning team. You will work with operations, commercial and pre-construction to develop programmes for major civil engineering projects and help deliver them on time and safely.

This role suits an experienced Planning Engineer, or Site/Section/Senior Engineer moving into planning, with knowledge of NEC contracts and planning software such as Asta Powerproject. Strong communication and problem‑solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering civil infrastructure or major projects.
• Experience as Planning Engineer or background as Site/Senior Engineer moving into planning.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts and construction sequencing.
• Experience using planning software (e.g., Asta Powerproject).
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Organised and analytical approach with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop tender and contract programmes.
• Produce construction methodologies and sequencing plans.
• Monitor progress and update live programmes.
• Manage programme change and identify risks.
• Produce look-ahead programmes and progress reports.
• Work with project teams, designers and commercial teams to optimise delivery.
• Support planning across pre-construction and live projects.
