PropSource have partnered with a leading land promotion company based in Greater Manchester, renowned for their expertise in unlocking the full potential of land through residential and mixed-use development. With a track record of delivering high-profile projects, they are seeking an experienced Planning Director to join their dynamic team.

As Planning Director, you will play a pivotal role in securing planning permissions for major and strategic sites, working through the development plan process, planning applications, and appeals where necessary. You will lead on planning strategies, manage project teams, and mentor junior planners, making a direct impact on the company's growth and success.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement effective planning strategies for site promotion and consent.
  2. Lead project teams, sign off reports, and oversee planning applications, appeals, and policy presentations.
  3. Prepare and submit written evidence for planning appeals and public examinations, including providing verbal evidence where required.
  4. Negotiate planning conditions and Section 106 agreements, collaborating with legal teams.
  5. Identify and assess new land opportunities in partnership with the Land team.
  6. Provide mentorship and support to junior planners, driving their professional development.
  7. Engage with landowners, agents, and local authorities, attending meetings and site visits.

About You:

  1. Proven experience in a senior planning role, ideally within a land promotion, consultancy, or housebuilder environment.
  2. Strong knowledge of the UK planning system, including appeals, applications, and development plans.
  3. Excellent project leadership and delegation skills.
  4. Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external consultants.
  5. Confident in providing written and verbal evidence at appeals and inquiries.
