We are working exclusively with Future Biogas, a leading UK renewable energy developer, to recruit a Planning Development Manager for their Guildford team. This role offers the chance to work on significant unsubsidised green gas projects that support sustainable farming, biodiversity, and the UK's net-zero targets.

The role involves managing complex planning applications for large anaerobic digestion sites, engaging with rural communities, and supporting the planning team, including line management responsibilities. It provides growth opportunities within a purpose-driven, fast-growing organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead planning applications, appeals, and stakeholder consultations for major projects.
  • Manage and mentor a Planning Assistant.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants to ensure timely, high-quality submissions.
  • Build relationships with local authorities, regulators, and communities.
  • Report to the Planning lead and liaise with senior stakeholders, including the Business Development Director and CEO.
  • Participate in site visits, exhibitions, and planning meetings.
Candidate Requirements
  • Degree or equivalent professional experience in planning-related field.
  • At least 3 years' experience in planning for large infrastructure or renewable energy projects.
  • Proven ability to manage multi-stakeholder planning processes.
  • Resilience and pragmatic approach to public scrutiny and bureaucratic challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work within a commutable distance of Guildford and spend at least 3 days in-office.
