Job Description

Planning & Control Manager - Bristol

Full time

Bristol/Hybrid

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Rolls-Royce Bristol Turbines Facility (BTF) as Planning & Control Manager. The BTF manufactures Nozzle Guide Vanes and is set for a period of significant growth due to demand for our products increasing. We are looking for a Planning & Control Manager to be a pivotal part of that business expansion. This role is a key leadership position within the Plant as part of a high-performing, cross functional team.

Why Rolls-Royce?

Rolls-Royce is one of the most enduring and iconic brands in the world and has been at the forefront of innovation for over a century. We design, build and service systems that provide critical power to customers where safety and reliability are paramount.

We are proud to be a force for progress, powering, protecting, and connecting people everywhere.

We want to ensure that the excellence and ingenuity that has shaped our history continues into our future, and we need people like you to come and join us on this journey.

We’ll provide an environment of caring and belonging where you can be yourself. An inclusive, innovative culture that invests in you, gives you access to an incredible breadth and depth of opportunities where you can grow your career and make a difference.

What we offer

We offer excellent development opportunities, a competitive salary, and exceptional benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance and employee discounts.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

What you will be doing

As a Planning & Control Manager you will be leading Planning & Control activities across the Manufacturing Plant to ensure that delivery performance expectations are achieved, inventory is optimised, and the business complies with material control policies. You will lead the Planning & Control team to maximise value to the business, develop their competency and drive process excellence. Apply a Lean mindset to both Planning & Control processes and Manufacturing Planning to reduce waste and optimise delivery to customer from available resources.

Responsibilities:

With this attractive opportunity you will get a chance to:

  • Deliver Performance - Utilising the R-R Production System, lead the P&C team to ensure that performance is understood with action plans to close gaps. Key metrics include on-time in full (OTIF), Arrears, Inventory, ERP Compliance and Customer KPIs.

  • Manage the Plant response to Sales, Inventory and Operational Planning process (SIOP) - Utilise rough cut planning techniques to provide indicative responses and a full load vs. capacity plan to support Customer and Business Financial plans.

  • Lead Plant planning & scheduling activity – own the 4-weekly Manufacturing Planning process to create a cohesive set of balanced plans. Ensure the agreed Production schedule is maintained in our Executive system (SAP) and deployed throughout the Manufacturing Plant.

  • Deliver the future Rate readiness plan – play a critical part in ensuring the Plant has a plan for future Production volumes and executes flawlessly.

  • Accountable for inventory budget and forecast - Ensure that Inventory and Slow-Moving WIP plans are delivered and reflect year-on-year improvement in stock turns.

  • Manage Planning & Control related change for the Plant commodities - Provide input into the commodity strategy and make/buy decisions, helping shape the 'blueprint' for our supply chain.

  • Develop, manage and control logistics processes - Responsible for adherence to Logistics budget, compliance to standards and managing Logistics Partners’ local operational relationship.

  • Develop, coach and lead the P&C team members - Manage a team of P&C staff, balancing resources across team accountabilities. Ensure the correct Functional & Behavioural competencies are in place with training plans to close gaps.

Who we’re looking for

Being a part of Rolls-Royce, you’ll know we put safety first, do the right thing, keep it simple and make a difference. These principles form our behaviours. They are an essential component of our assessment process and are fundamental qualities that we seek for all roles.

  • Leadership and management of key planning and control disciplines.

  • Management of significant programmes/projects.

  • Operational management of engineering, manufacturing, purchasing and/or planning and control.

  • Leadership and management of people.

  • Leadership of significant organisation or technical change.

  • Management of stakeholder (e.g. customer, supplier) interfaces at a senior level.

  • Operating in a matrix organisation and the management of conflicting priorities.

  • Leading in challenging environments - including diverse cultures and high pressure or complex situations.

We are an equal opportunities employer. We’re committed to developing a diverse workforce and an inclusive working environment. We believe that people from different backgrounds and cultures give us different perspectives which are crucial to innovation and problem solving. We believe the more diverse perspectives we have, the more successful we’ll be. By building a culture of caring and belonging, we give everyone who works here the opportunity to realise their full potential.

We welcome applications from people with a refugee background.
