Job summary

WSP Global Inc. is seeking an Associate Director / Associate Planning Lead to head Planning & Scheduling for major Water sector projects. You will lead multidisciplinary teams and shape programme delivery and client relationships, with a strong focus on net zero and sustainability.

You will drive business growth, expand Planning & Scheduling services, and collaborate with clients and internal teams to deliver high-value outcomes across complex programmes.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading planning of large-scale multi-disciplinary infrastructure programmes.
  • Extensive stakeholder engagement and client management with team leadership experience.
  • Strong understanding of NEC3/4 ECC contract requirements and change control processes.
  • Expertise in Project/Programme Planning within the Water infrastructure sector (P6/MSP).
  • Ability to communicate with diverse stakeholder groups and drive project value.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop high-performing planning teams on major water sector projects.
  • Balance planning leadership with delivery to meet programme and KPI targets.
  • Develop internal and external relationships to grow Planning & Scheduling offerings.
  • Engage with clients to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, and governance.
  • Drive innovative solutions and continuous improvement across projects.

A little more about your role…


As an Associate Director / Associate Planning Lead for the PMCM Programme Solutions Planning team, you will join a growing team of professionals, planning and delivering major projects across the Water sector. You will help lead and develop high-performing teams, drive business growth, and build strong client relationships, with a focus on net zero and sustainability.


You will work directly with clients, multidisciplinary project teams, balance planning leadership with project delivery, develop internal and external relationships, and expand our Planning & Scheduling service offering for our Water clients.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

We seek a proactive, results-driven Planner team leader with:

  • Substantial experience of planning & managing large-scale, multi-disciplinary infrastructure programmes and schedules within the Water sector.
  • Extensive stakeholder engagement, client management, and highly effective communication skills, with a proven track record of developing and leading other planning team staff and as a people manager.
  • Strong commercial acumen, NEC3/4 ECC contract requirements, as well as utilisation of change control (CEs/EWNs) and programme governance for project delivery plans and complex integrated schedules.
  • Deep understanding Project/Programme Planning within the Water infrastructure sector, a combination of strategic, technical, and integrated master scheduling skills (P6/MSP), with the ability to communicate with purpose to a range of stakeholder audiences.
  • Ability to challenge the status quo, drive innovative solutions, and consistently deliver projects and client value to high standards against demanding KPIs.
  • Commitment to making a positive impact and direct contribution within Programme Planning & Project Controls professional development, and to WSP’s wider business initiatives.
  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Civil Engineering, Construction Management) or equivalent.
  • Current membership of a relevant professional institution e.g. MAPM, MICE, or equivalent.
