Job summary

Simpson Judge in London is seeking a Planning Associate or Senior Associate to join its Planning & Environment team. The role involves advising on planning and highways matters, drafting Section 106 agreements, and supporting major development and regeneration projects.

You will work alongside Real Estate and Development specialists, handling both contentious and non-contentious matters with a hybrid working pattern.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor with a strong grounding in Planning Law.
• Experience in planning, real estate or projects practice is advantageous.
• Ability to advise on a broad range of planning matters across contentious and non-contentious work.

Responsibilities

• Advise on planning and highways matters including Section 106, Section 38, and Section 278 agreements.
• Provide strategic planning advice across the development lifecycle.
• Assist on major development, regeneration and infrastructure projects.
• Handle planning applications, appeals, inquiries and judicial reviews as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Collaborate with Real Estate, Development and wider property teams to manage client matters.

I’m working with a leading UK law firm that is looking to appoint a Planning Associate or Senior Associate into its established Planning & Environment team in London.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Planning lawyer looking to join a highly regarded practice and work on a broad range of major development, regeneration and infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will work alongside experienced Planning, Real Estate and Development lawyers, advising a varied client base on both contentious and non-contentious planning matters.

The Role

The position will involve advising clients across a wide range of planning and highways matters, including:

• Drafting and negotiating Section 106 agreements and other planning obligations
• Advising on Section 38 and Section 278 highways agreements and associated highways matters
• Providing strategic advice on planning and highways law
• Supporting significant development and regeneration projects
• Advising on planning issues arising throughout the development lifecycle
• Handling matters relating to planning applications and permissions
• Advising on planning appeals, inquiries and hearings
• Dealing with Judicial Review and other planning challenges
• Working closely with colleagues across Real Estate, Development and wider property teams
• Managing matters and developing strong relationships with clients and other professional advisers

Candidate Profile

The firm is open to candidates currently operating at either Associate or Senior Associate level.

You should be a qualified solicitor with a strong grounding in Planning Law, ideally gained within a recognised planning, real estate or projects practice.

You don't necessarily need to tick every box. The firm is interested in speaking with lawyers who have developed a strong planning practice and are looking for an opportunity to continue progressing within an established team.
