An opportunity has arisen for a permanent full-time Planning Business Support Assistant (Monday-Friday) in the Council Support administrative team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced administrator, assisting with an interesting and varied range of duties. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to the Planning team and also ad hoc administrative support to other areas of the team as required.

The role requires proficient use of Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel, and excellent customer service skills. Good communication and numeracy skills are essential, and you should be able to establish good working relationships with all levels of staff. Proven organisational skills, the ability to prioritise workload, and initiative are also necessary. A commitment to delivering high-quality customer service is expected. Flexibility is important as duties may change based on team needs.

The role involves providing administrative support to the Planning Service by checking and recording documentation, preparing and issuing Planning and Appeal decision notices, identifying and issuing Neighbour Notifications, and logging Enforcement cases. Additionally, responsibilities include collating and producing Scheme of Delegation, Committee Expedited/Weekly/Register Lists, and Committee Agendas.

Other duties include preparing and presenting data for internal and external stakeholders, coordinating administrative workflows, supporting applicants and colleagues in the planning process, maintaining knowledge of relevant legislation, and managing planning fees, invoices, and stationery requisitions through PECOS.

Additional appropriate duties may be assigned by management.

The purpose of this role is to provide effective administrative, guidance, and information services to the Planning Department, ensuring compliance with planning legislation and council regulations.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Educated to Higher Grade, NC, or SVQ Level 2, or demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience.

Driving Licence
A full current driving licence is desirable.

Level 1 Disclosure Clearance
This role requires Level 1 Disclosure Clearance for access to the Public Sector Network. The council will handle the application process. Receipt of the certificate is required before starting.
