An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Planner with experience of the Planning Act 2008 procedures to join Carter Jonas’ Infrastructure Consents team. The role would be based in Leeds although individuals wishing to work remotely with occasional office visits can also be suitable.

The rapidly growing team has a number of existing appointments on Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) across various project sectors including rail, road, energy, high voltage transmission, and Business and Commercial NSIPs. The team also have a strong project bank of green energy projects and provides an opportunity to be at the forefront of progressing renewable energy initiatives in the UK. The consent team have a strong history of advising on a huge range of infrastructure projects, across a wide spectrum of consent regimes, including, but not limited to DCOs,, TWAOs, Section 36 projects and conventional TCPA projects. In the last 12 months alone the consents team have managed and submitted four DCOs, a multi-billion-pound TWAO, and a number of smaller renewable TCPA applications, and we have many more projects currently starting their NSIP journey.

What does it take to be successful?

This role would be ideal for a qualified planner with experience and knowledge of the NSIP and/or similar, or of managing large and complex project teams, and who wishes to be part of one of the country’s fastest growing infrastructure teams working with some of the UK’s largest infrastructure clients, including Network Rail, National Highways, National Grid, alongside the opportunity to work with industry leading renewable clients, contributing to the national energy ambitions for clean energy. A willingness and ability to travel throughout the UK is an advantage, but flexibility and ensuring a prime work/life balance is one of the key ambitions for Carter Jonas as a business.
