Job description


Our client, a prominent player in the Highways sector, is currently seeking a dedicated Planner to join their team on the HS2 project in Birmingham. This is a permanent role that focuses on planning and project controls (P6) within one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in the UK.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day planning function of a Sub Lot, including the maintenance of the working programme
  • Production of detailed Sub Lot programmes using Synchro
  • Monitoring progress against the plan and reviewing with the Planning lead
  • Recording and maintaining 'As Built' data
  • Establishing and maintaining positive and effective relationships within the delivery team and with sub-contractors
  • Capturing and integrating current and forecast programme, budget, cost, and risk at asset and sub-asset level
  • Assisting the Project Team to timely deliver projects and improve performance


Job Requirements:

  • Experience in cost management and planning within large, complex environments in the construction and engineering industry
  • Proficiency in Primavera (all versions), Microsoft Project, Word/Excel, TiLOS, and Synchro
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills
  • Attention to detail and aptitude for logic
  • Understanding of project controls, planning, and performance reporting
  • Knowledge of construction market methods, plant, equipment, and labour requirements
  • A degree, HND or equivalent in a relevant subject is desirable but not essential
