Job summary

SGS United Kingdom Limited is seeking an Engineering Planner for SPS Projects and Services. The role focuses on developing detailed schedules for subsea production system projects, coordinating scope activities and resource planning across multidisciplinary teams in a hybrid office-based setting.

The candidate will manage schedules, monitor progress, and work with project managers to ensure on-time delivery within budget.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum 1 year in planning and scheduling within oil & gas, preferably subsea production systems (SPS).
  • Proven track record in managing complex engineering schedules and delivering on time.
  • Experience working with multicultural teams and diverse cultures.

Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain and update detailed engineering schedules for SPS projects and services.
  • Coordinate engineering activities with project managers, engineers and stakeholders; chair progress meetings.
  • Provide resource capacity charts and optimize resource utilization for the engineering group.
  • Identify schedule risks and develop mitigation strategies; monitor and report progress.
  • Maintain schedules and service dates; execute TECO process and communicate with stakeholders.

Our Client are looking for someone with experience in planning and scheduling within the oil and gas industry, preferably in subsea production systems (SPS) or related services.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Proficient in Primavera P6.
  • Proficient in SAP.
  • Length of contract - up to 12 months initially with idea of going temp to permanent
  • Hourly rate - £25 per hourPAYE
  • Hybrid office-based role in Reading with potential for occasional travel as required.

Position Summary:

The Engineering Planner for SPS Projects and Services will be responsible for developing and managing detailed engineering schedules, coordinating scope activities, resource planning of engineering groups and ensuring the successful delivery of scopes within budget and on time. This role requires strong organizational skills, technical expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams with diverse cultural backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule Development and Management: Create, maintain, and update detailed engineering schedules for SPS projects and services. Integrate schedules with overall scope timelines and client requirements. Analysis, monitor and report on schedule progress, identifying and addressing potential delays or issues.
  • Planning and Communication: Coordinate engineering activities with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders. Facilitate regular meetings to review schedule status, progress, and upcoming tasks. Communicate schedule updates and changes to all relevant parties. Assign engineers to quote and executive. Chair regular engineering progress meetings.
  • Resource Planning: Allocate engineering resources effectively to meet project demands. Collaborate with resource managers to ensure the availability of required skills and personnel. Provide resource capacity charts for the engineering group. Optimize resource utilization to balance workloads and maximize efficiency. Chair regular engineering progress meetings.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential schedule risks and develop mitigation strategies and scenario plans. Monitor and track risk factors, implementing corrective actions, as necessary.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and present regular schedule reports and performance metrics. Maintain accurate and up-to-date schedules, and reports. Maintain accurate service dates and planner group in SAP (System Application Product). Execute the Technically Complete (TECO) process and communicate to stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements. Implement best practices and lessons learned to enhance scope delivery efficiency.
  • Cultural Collaboration: Foster a collaborative and inclusive working environment that respects and leverages the diverse cultural backgrounds of team members. Facilitate effective communication and cooperation among engineers from diverse cultures and geographical locations.
Qualification / Knowledge Required:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject or industry-based experience preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience in planning and scheduling within the oil and gas industry, preferably in subsea production systems (SPS) or related services.
  • Proven record of accomplishment of managing complex engineering schedules and delivering projects on time.
  • Experience working with multicultural teams and understanding of cultural sensitivities.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Proficient in Primavera P6.
  • Proficient in SAP.
  • Strongunderstanding of engineering principles and project management methodologies.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary, multicultural team environment.
  • Cultural awareness and the ability to build strong, respectful working relationships across diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of primavera.
  • Experience with subsea production systems and related technologies.
  • Knowledge of the subsea oil industry
Working Conditions:
  • Hybrid office‐based role with potential for occasional travel as required.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
