Cooper Lomaz are excited to recruit for a well-established client based in Bury St Edmunds who is seeking an experienced Planner/Buyer.
Role Overview
As a Planner/Buyer, you will work within the Supply Chain department, providing Planning, Purchasing, and Material Control support to production operations, Engineering, QA, and Customer Service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Update the IFS computer system daily with static data from production, sales/planning forecast, customer service, and historical data.
- Monitor and maintain the MRP system daily to ensure data accuracy and that exception messages are addressed.
- Coordinate with Customer Service, Manufacturing, and Purchasing/Planning to schedule material production, ensuring build completion according to customer requested dates, and maintaining adequate stock levels to optimize customer service and inventory turns.
- Place and expedite purchase orders to maintain optimal stock and service levels.
- Collaborate with Operations to monitor material availability and capacity, avoiding over-commitment of resources and missed delivery deadlines.
- Participate in Production, Customer Service, and Value Stream meetings with proper preparation.
- Generate daily reports including Production Schedule, Customer Service Report, and Shortage Report to keep production on schedule.
- Perform additional tasks as needed to support Operations.
- Respond positively to change, promote company culture and ethos.
- Stay updated on company policies and health and safety regulations, ensuring compliance.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in Supply Chain Planning and Purchasing.
- At least 5 years’ experience in Planning and Materials Control, demonstrating strong customer service skills.
- Previous experience with ERP/MRP systems, preferably IFS.
- Experience in planning and purchasing metal, plastics, or electronic parts for industrial assembly.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MRP/MPS systems, ideally IFS or similar.
- Intermediate Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and oral.
- Analytical and mathematical skills relevant to the role.
