Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a Planner in Peterhead to create, manage and maintain comprehensive project schedules across UK construction projects. You will ensure coordination between teams and help drive timely delivery while improving planning processes and resource allocation.

The role requires strong analytical, communication and organisational skills, with experience using Primavera P6, Asta, MS Project and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain project programmes, ensuring compliance with planning standards and procedures.

  • Produce planning outputs including programmes, reports and documentation.
  • Manage and maintain the contract programme throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor critical path, identify risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain baselines and support change control processes.
  • Assist in resource planning for labour, materials and equipment.
  • Support subcontractor and stakeholder coordination.
  • Analyse project data and KPIs to track progress and inform decisions.

About The Role

We are looking for a skilled Planner to join our planning team, supporting the delivery of complex and high-profile construction projects across the UK.

You will be responsible for creating, managing and maintaining comprehensive project schedules, ensuring effective coordination between teams and helping to drive timely and efficient project delivery. This role plays a key part in improving planning processes, optimising resources and supporting successful project outcomes.

What you'll be doing
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain project programmes, ensuring compliance with planning standards and procedures
  • Work collaboratively at tender stage to establish efficient project sequencing and methodology
  • Produce planning outputs including programmes, reports, and supporting documentation
  • Manage and maintain the contract programme throughout the project lifecycle
  • Monitor and evaluate the critical path, highlighting risks and recommending corrective actions
