Job summary

Royal IHC is expanding its UK planning team to deliver complex capital projects in the offshore energy sector. The Planner will partner with project managers and engineering teams to coordinate schedules, manage data, and support on-time, on-budget delivery across varied projects.

You will use Primavera P6 and MS Project, identify critical paths and risks, prepare progress and performance reports for senior management, and contribute to earned value tracking while upholding governance and safety

About the job

Based in the UK, Royal IHC Ltd designs and builds cable lay equipment and subsea vehicles for the offshore energy and telecommunications industries. With multiple major projects currently underway and more on the horizon, our UK project team is expanding to keep pace and deliver world-first solutions to world-class clients across the offshore energy sector.

The Planner role will be working closely with project managers and engineering teams to support successful delivery across projects that vary in scale, complexity, and duration. As Royal IHC Ltd continues to expand, this role offers key opportunities for professional growth and development.

The role:

We are seeking a capable and detail oriented professional to join our Planning team, where you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing project delivery schedules. In this role, you will collaborate closely with colleagues across all departments to support the timely and cost-effective completion of projects. You will also be expected to work independently, applying strong analytical and problem-solving skills while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain the integrated project schedule using professional planning tools (e.g. Primavera P6, MS Project).
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to gather progress data and update forecasts.
• Identify critical paths, risks, and mitigation options to keep the project on track.
• Working with Senior Planner to produce regular progress and performance reports for senior management.
• Contribute to earned value and performance tracking processes (SPI & CPI).
• Ensure compliance with internal project governance and safety standards.

Requirements:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach.
• Proven experience in planning/scheduling major capital projects.
• Proficiency in MS Project and Excel‑based analytics is essential. Experience with Primavera P6 is desirable, however training will be provided where required.
• Desirable: exposure to industrial or high-technology construction environments; knowledge of earned value management and digital planning tools.
