Job summary

Morgan Sindall Infrastructure is seeking a Planner (Trainee) who can combine on-site experience with training in modern planning methodologies and software. The role supports Senior Planners in developing and updating project programmes during pre-construction and delivery phases.

You will monitor progress, reflect project performance, risks, and milestones, and contribute to lookahead planning and workshop activities to drive timely delivery.

Qualifications

  • HNC in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • 5 to 10 years site experience as a Section Engineer or Sub Agent.
  • Experience on civil engineering and/or energy transmission projects in an operational role.
  • Experience creating and maintaining lookahead programmes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain logic-linked design, procurement, and construction programmes.
  • Contribute to the development of the project delivery strategy and construction methodology.
  • Review engineering drawings and produce material take-offs to determine activity durations.
  • Update, monitor and communicate progress through the programme and dashboards.
  • Communicate programme status and progress to clients, operational teams, and subcontractors.
  • Develop and maintain lookahead programmes.
  • Assist with collaborative planning workshops.
  • Identify programme risks and communicate these to operational and commercial teams.

Planner (Trainee)

Morgan Sindall Infrastructure have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Section Engineer or Sub Agent who is looking for a career change.

About The Role

In this role, you will combine your site-based experience with training in planning methodologies and software to develop project programmes during the pre-construction phase. Working alongside and with the support of a Senior Planner, you will monitor progress throughout the delivery phase, ensuring programmes are updated accurately and reflect project performance, risks, and key milestones.

Core Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain logic-linked design, procurement, and construction programmes.
  • Contribute to the development of the project delivery strategy and construction methodology.
  • Review engineering drawings and produce material take-offs to determine activity durations.
  • Update, monitor and communicate progress through the programme and dashboards.
