Job description

John Sisk & Son are looking for a Planner to join their UK Construction North Business Unit to work on a high-profile scheme in Manchester. The role involves leading the planning team with the planning and programming of design, procurement, and construction activities associated with projects in a specific geographical area. The Planner will regularly review the programme and planning management functions during preconstruction and construction phases, and develop reports on progress and performance for the Regional Director.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support project directors & the director in charge in assessing programme risks during prequalification - bid or no bid.
  2. Review the development of baseline contract programmes covering design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
  3. Oversee the preparation of construction (target) programmes, highlighting areas for improvement.
  4. Lead the regional planning team to ensure programmes, phasing, and work formats are consistent.
  5. Assist in business improvement measures related to planning and project controls.
  6. Report weekly/monthly on current programme status to the Regional Director, reviewing programmes, outputs, and phasing.
  7. Validate tender event programmes for subcontractor procurement, including design release and lead-in activities.
  8. Coordinate the development of 4D graphical models or 2D phasing plans as required.
  9. Oversee construction methodology to demonstrate techniques and sequencing for successful project delivery.
  10. Review project prelim books, including staff resources, logistics, and temporary works.
  11. Engage with the supply chain to review project programmes concerning design, lead-ins, construction periods, and resource requirements.
  12. Assess risks and opportunities in programmes, highlighting mitigation measures, float, and time risk allowances.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 3-5 years experience in a Planner role
  • Experience with stadium projects preferred
  • Relevant degree or diploma
  • Advanced training in construction project management software, progress analysis, s-curve reporting, cost and resource management
  • Primavera P6 and managing people training
  • Advanced BIM training and understanding of the common data environment
