Job summary

Amentum is recruiting a Planner to support MEH planning on the HPC project. You will work under the Area Lead Planner to manage the integrated schedule and ensure accurate, timely information across the project lifecycle.

The role requires experience in planning for complex infrastructures, collaboration across teams, and the ability to drive a digital planning environment while mitigating risk and maintaining schedule integrity.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a degree or equivalent in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying or other related field.
  • Experience working in a Planning team for mechanical, electrical & HVAC in a complex, regulated industry (ideally nuclear).
  • Experience with Integrated Planning frameworks and methodologies for major infrastructure projects.
  • Site/installation experience valuable, overseeing Level 4 schedules (Work Packages).
  • Ability to deliver concise project insights using technical and commercial data.

Responsibilities

  • Drive an Integrated Planning framework with top-down/bottom-up reporting.
  • Develop and maintain the IWS schedule baseline aligned with WBS.
  • Assess risks/opportunities and provide timely information.
  • Enable robust review and challenge of schedule reporting.
  • Produce updates of area Planning and Schedule reporting to stakeholders.

Hinkley Point C (HPC) is the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years, HPCs two EPR reactors will be capable of generating 3.26GW of secure, low carbon electricity for 60 years, enough electricity to power around 6 million homes. In addition to the projects ‘clean energy’ benefits, HPC will create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

Amentum are currently recruiting a Planner who will be accountable to the Area Lead Planner for MEH planning throughout the project lifecycle, it's Productivity, the quality of its outputs their accuracy and value, the implementation of the broader HPC Planning Strategy, the provision of a bespoke-benchmark Planning Environment (Digitally enabled) and the management & control of its associated Supply Chain interfaces (contracts).

Key responsibilities
  • Drive an Integrated Planning framework, integrated with Reporting and Interdependencies focused on alignment of top down/bottom-up reporting from strategic levels, through Level 1 to Level 5.
  • Develop and maintain the schedule baseline integrated work schedule (IWS) with fully logic-linked work plans aligned to the Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and utilising effective techniques.
  • Supporting the Area management organisation to ensure that significant risks/opportunities associated with the MEH scope of works are adequately assessed based on evidence and balanced judgement to underpin regular, timely and accurate information.
  • Enable robust review, challenge of delivery & schedule level reporting that impacts overall Project level strategic delivery.
  • For the timely production and focussed updates of area Planning and Schedule reporting to key stakeholders, to a defined reporting cycle
  • Driving and challenging strategies for Baseline Schedule project delivery sequence
  • Continuous development of the Planning team approach by capturing and sharing operational experience and learning.
  • Analysing and assimilating information to identify key risks and make evidence-based decisions to drive the Planning strategy using a pragmatic and systematic approach.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues within and across organisational boundaries to achieve mutually successful outcomes in keeping with the HPC project values of "Humility, Positivity, Respect, Solidarity and Clarity" and culture of "Trust, Transparency and Teamwork"
  • Accountable for the application of the Trend & Change process within the schedule, including analysis at Project level, generating performance indicators, and providing feedback on areas of risk and opportunities.
  • Integration of the MEH scope of works within the HPC schedule and associated planning data
  • Accountable for ensuring the project scheduling standards and procedures are being adhered to.
  • Ensure all Project documents, in particular Sensitive Nuclear Information, are correctly protectively marked, and protected in accordance with EDF policies and procedures.
Education, Skills & Experience
  • Minimum of a degree or equivalent in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying or other related field;
  • Demonstratable experience working within a Planning team for mechanical, electrical & HVAC works in a complex, highly regulated industry (ideally nuclear or energy) working in a role, which requires active integration management with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience of practical application of Integrated Planning frameworks and methodologies, and how they are applied in the strategic and operational management of a major infrastructure project to deliver positive business outcomes
  • Previous site/ installation experience would be particularly valuable in this role as the successful candidate would be overseeing Level 4 schedules (Work Packages)
  • Demonstrable ability to deliver accurate and concise project insights to drive evidence-based decision making, utilising commercial and technical information, to influence project decisions and lead the management of area planning
  • Critical understanding of how the impact of changes/decisions may impact the risk profile of the project and Planning delivery.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Effectively communicates complex issues and concepts (unique insights) in simple ways, to both technical and non-technical senior audiences
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues within and across organisational boundaries to achieve mutually successful outcomes.
  • Control / Clear Understanding of the HPC PMO Digital Planning Platforms and functionality
