Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Daventry, United Kingdom, is seeking an enthusiastic Product Engineering Placement Student to join our Power Systems Business segment.

This on-site placement provides exposure to how a global engineering organisation operates and opportunities to contribute to engine projects. During the 12-month placement starting Summer 2027, you will support active projects, lead problem solving, liaise with service teams, and assist with new engine parts design and analysis.

• Currently completing a degree with a 12-month placement year (mechanical/automotive/aeronautical engineering or STEM).
• Ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally about work tasks.
• Willingness to travel or relocate to the Daventry location on your own.

Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Product Engineering Placement Student to join our team specialising in Engineering for our Power Systems Business segment in Daventry, United Kingdom.

During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organisation operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry.

The requirements are to be onsite for 3 days per week so you will need to be able to travel or relocate to the location on your own behalf.

This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence in Summer 2027.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

• Support with active projects to improve the quality of the engines.
• Lead and support product problem solving and product change requests for current product engine support.
• Liaise and work with the service team in failure investigations.
• Maintain the lead value engineering projects to improve the profitability of the company.
• Support with new engine projects in general engineering tasks when required.
• Opportunities to design and analyze new engine parts.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

• In the process of completing a degree with a 12-month placement year in mechanical, automotive, aeronautical engineering or relevant STEM degrees.
• Ability to communicate both written and orally on work tasks.
• Ability to work alone or as part of a team (with support as required)
• Confidence in office work environment and working on MS office (PowerPoint and Excel)
