We are seeking an enthusiastic Electronic Controls Placement Student to join Cummins Inc. in Darlington, United Kingdom. You will support tuning, integration, testing, and release of software and ECUs for Cummins’ engine products in diverse customer applications.

During your placement you will learn how a global organization operates and gain tools to become an industry expert. The role requires onsite work three days a week and is a 12-month placement starting Summer 2027.

Qualificações

• Currently studying a STEM subject at degree level with a 12-month industry placement.
• Positive attitude to learning, and ability to learn quickly.
• Ability to work well with others and build relationships.
• Capacity to write clear, professional technical documents.
• Ability to follow problem-solving processes to resolve issues.
• Some experience or knowledge of MATLAB and Simulink is preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Validate calibrations for the Engine Control Unit (ECU).
• Plan and carry out verification and validation testing for calibrations and engine controllers.
• Analyze field data, troubleshoot issues, and support the wider team.
• Prepare and present technical documentation for design reviews.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Electronic Controls Placement Student to join our Engine Business Unit team in Darlington, United Kingdom . You will support the team to configure (tune), integrate, test, and release software, electronic control units, and tools into an electronic system that controls the operation of Cummins’ products in a variety of customer applications.

During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organisation operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!

The requirements are to be onsite for 3 days per week, so you will need to be able to travel or relocate to the location on your own behalf.

This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence in Summer 2027.

In This Role, You Will Make An Impact By

• Validating calibrations for the Engine Control Unit (ECU).
• Planning and carrying out verification and validation testing for developed calibrations and engine controllers.
• Analyzing data from the field and end users, troubleshooting and resolving issues of any size, and supporting the wider team in doing so.
• Preparing and presenting technical documentation for design reviews as part of product development.
• Work in cross-functional teams to develop products and resolve issues.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

• To be currently studying a STEM subject at degree level, with an allowance for a 12-month industry placement
• A positive attitude towards learning new things, with the confidence to ask questions and the ability to learn quickly.
• Ability to work well with others and build positive working relationships within the team.
• Understand how engineering rules, guidelines and best practices are applied. And be able to write clear and professional technical documents, such as test reports and design review material.
• Ability to follow problem-solving processes to resolve issues.
• Some experience or knowledge of MATLAB and Simulink is preferred.
