Job summary

Amey in Glasgow is offering a Civil Engineer Summer Intern placement within the NMC SW team. The role involves data collation, inspections, and supporting project administration on diverse highway projects. You will gain insight into life at Amey and may apply for our Graduate Pathway after your studies.

We welcome students currently pursuing a Civil Engineering degree and offer a structured learning programme, with a 40-hour work week and an hourly salary, starting July 2027 at 12.71 per hour.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Civil Engineer Summer Intern to join our NMC SW team within Amey's Transport Infrastructure Business Unit, based in Glasgow.

Salary: £12.71 per hour (Subject to review)

Location: 150 Polmadie Road,Glasgow,G5 0HD

Working hours per week: Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, 40 hours per week.

Start date: July 2027

About The Team

Amey is working in partnership with Transport Scotland Southwest since August 2020, we are responsible for inspections, cyclical maintenance, asset management, scheme delivery as well as winter maintenance and incident response. The team are first on the scene to assist road users on the road network, deliver engineering design and operational delivery services for more than 600 kilometres of road and 1,650 structures enabling reliable journey times and a high level of customer care for the people and businesses that use these roads every day. By ensuring our roads and highways are well-maintained through all-weather seasons and traffic incidents, we aim to create well-functioning, safe spaces which minimise disruption, keep people moving and support thriving communities.

What You Will Do

• Ensure accurate and effective collation of data.
• Carry out inspections in accordance with the Well-Maintained Highways Code of General Practice.
• Ensure contract compliance on data quality management issues.
• Comply with the relevant health and safety legislation.
• Communicate with the third-party claims team to provide evidence in defence of claims.
• Assist with the establishment and implementation of a programme of inspections and investigations.
• Assist with project administration as required.
• Record time accurately in project control systems.
• Liaise with the OCR and staff to ensure planning, operations and works are completed on time.
• Assist with the preparation of reports and documents as necessary.
• Provide accurate advice to relevant parties on procedures.
