Job summary

Our client, a Liverpool-based M&E contractor, seeks a Mechanical Estimator to shape the commercial function and drive bid quality. The role offers progression as the business grows and a pivotal position within a growing team.

You will prepare estimates, take-offs, and cost plans, engaging the supply chain for competitive pricing while identifying risks and value engineering opportunities. This is a full-time on-site role.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in mechanical estimating within an M&E contracting environment.
• Confident reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and tender docs.
• Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
• Commercially aware with a methodical pricing approach.
• Motivated to grow within a business, not just fulfil a function.

Responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical estimates and tender submissions from drawings and specifications.
• Carry out take-offs and produce cost plans for varied project types.
• Engage with supply chain for competitive subcontractor pricing.
• Identify commercial risks and value engineering opportunities in bids.
• Attend tender clarification and review meetings.
• Work with design and delivery teams to ensure bids are technically sound.
• Contribute to development of the pre-construction function as the business grows.
