Job summary

Our client, a Liverpool-based M&E contractor, seeks a Mechanical Estimator to shape the commercial function and drive bid quality. The role offers progression as the business grows and a pivotal position within a growing team.

You will prepare estimates, take-offs, and cost plans, engaging the supply chain for competitive pricing while identifying risks and value engineering opportunities. This is a full-time on-site role.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in mechanical estimating within an M&E contracting environment.
• Confident reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and tender docs.
• Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
• Commercially aware with a methodical pricing approach.

Responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical estimates and tender submissions from drawings and specifications.
• Carry out take-offs and produce cost plans for varied project types.

• Work with design and delivery teams to ensure bids are technically sound.

The Opportunity

Our client is a growing M&E contractor based in Liverpool and they are looking for a Mechanical Estimator to join their team in what is described as a pivotal appointment for the business. This is not a seat-keeping role the successful candidate will have a real impact on how the commercial function develops, and there are genuine opportunities to progress for the right person.

About the Business

Our client is a Liverpool-based M&E contractor delivering mechanical and electrical design and installation services across the North West. Working through directly employed, multi-skilled teams and specialist suppliers, they operate across healthcare, education, commercial, residential, hotel and leisure, retail and custodial sectors.

The business has built a strong track record in decarbonisation and energy efficiency, recently securing in excess of £4 million in contracts including a major project with a prominent North West university. Their portfolio includes full design and build packages for NHS medical centres, large-scale auditoriums and university buildings and their pipeline continues to grow. They have a genuine can-do approach, a select and loyal client base, and a leadership team with a clear view of where the business is going.

What Youll Be Doing

• Preparing mechanical estimates and tender submissions from drawings and specifications
