Job Description
Our client in the Havant area is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Assistant Project Manager to join their team on a reservoir project.
This key role involves supporting the Project Manager in fulfilling responsibilities under the NEC contract, including effective stakeholder communication, contributing to planning and development, and assisting in coordination and management efforts. You will also oversee various ad hoc projects from concept to completion, ensuring their successful delivery.
What will you be doing?
- Key Responsibilities
Represent PW at various Sub-Group meetings. - Hold regular meetings with stakeholders to monitor pipeline works and coordinate activities.
- Produce and support monthly progress reports and governance approval documents.
- Lead procurement, monitoring, and performance management of NEC contracts.
- Manage design interfaces with approved suppliers.
- Support the use of CEMAR contract management software for communication.
- Liaise with external stakeholders to secure agreement or acceptance of plans related to the reservoir scheme.
- Coordinate with PW internal stakeholders to ensure seamless project handover into operation upon completion.
- Ensure project development aligns with standards, specifications, requirements, and policies set by Portsmouth Water and the Havant Thicket Project, specifically in line with contractual obligations.
- Deliver projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards, meeting ODI targets and regulatory allowances.
What do you need?
Skills, Qualifications & Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, management, design, or a related field.
- Strong and demonstrable experience in major civil infrastructure projects.
- Membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g., MICE, APM, PMI).
- Full driving licence (all applicants will undertake a driver assessment).
- Excellent communication skills to build relationships with team members and stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and collaborative working style.
- Proven stakeholder engagement skills.
- Working knowledge of planning software and techniques.
- Proven project management capability.
- Systematic approach to solving complex issues and communicating solutions effectively.
- Good analytical skills, including reviewing and writing environmental management plans, progress reports, and decision support papers.
- Ability to meet deadlines with a focus on results and quality.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams.
