Subsea7 have an exciting new opportunity for a Pipelay Technical Authority (TA) to join our Offshore Delivery team on a full time, staff basis. The Pipelay TA is an onshore leading role based in Aberdeen reporting to the Operations Support Manager. It offers a diverse and challenging remit where no two days are ever the same.
What will you be doing?
Subsea7 have an exciting new opportunity for a Pipelay Technical Authority (TA) to join our Offshore Delivery team on a full time, staff basis. The Pipelay TA is an onshore leading role based in Aberdeen reporting to the Operations Support Manager. It offers a diverse and challenging remit where no two days are ever the same.
The Pipelay TA is part of a skilled team who believe in working collaboratively to deliver sound technical results. You will provide technical leadership and support on a range of fixed and mobile pipelay assets on Subsea7’s global fleet of vessels. Applicants will have an in- depth knowledge of both fixed and mobile pipelay lay systems. You will have an operational engineering background with a good customer focus. You will also be a radical thinker and a confident problem solver over many trade disciplines.
- Primary responsibility is for the management and supervision of Pipelay Equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation in compliance with legislation, company procedures and industry guidance
- Be familiar with and understand the requirements of industry guidance relevant to Pipelay equipment
- Liaise with Vessel Superintendents (and as required with Vessel Operations team) to identify and propose schedule Technician requirements
- Assist in setting and adhering to the annual equipment maintenance and Capex budget
- Preparing of financial and technical reports relating to the performance of maintenance and/or operation of Pipelay equipment
- Participation in all aspects of lay equipment quality audits
- Initiate audits for areas of authority as required
- The management and maintenance of all documentation relating to the safe operation and reliability of lay equipment
- Participate in the specification, design and management of new equipment building, major modification and major overhauls as required by management
- Ensure all workscopes have been properly risk assessed
- Perform adhoc visits to vessels alongside to inspect condition and maintenance carried out on lay equipment
- Manage third party contractors, ensuring their compliance with Subsea 7 requirements
- Monitor and report as required on Pipelay equipment planned maintenance and certification, ensuring it is carried out in accordance with regulations and company procedures
- Support the management and develop with Crewing the Pipelay Technician Supervisors to ensure competence in the operation and maintenance of Vessel Pipelay Systems and Equipment
- Manage direct reports, develops self and encourages development of others
- Manages and reviews sub-contracts for the area of responsibility
- Close out assigned Synergy actions in a timely manner where requested
- Identify Technical and Site Training requirements as per Reporting Department Training Matrix
What experience would we like you to have?
- Ideally educated to a degree level in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering although HNC/D or equivalent may be considered. (Equivalent experience may also be considered)
- Relevant offshore technical experience at an appropriate level in the operation and maintenance of Lay Systems and Equipment
- A technical engineering background with considerable line management experience is essential as is the ability to understand and implement working practices
- Good co-ordination, organisation and liaison skills with the ability to seek and gain consensus solutions to complex issues
- The ability to understand interface relationship between marine and project personnel
- Able to communicate effectively and articulately at all levels within the industry
- Previous experience of different operational technical requirements
- Capable of making technical decisions relative to the equipment owned and managed by the group
