Overview

North American Construction Services, Ltd. is hiring a permanent, full-time Pipe Fitter / Pipe Welder to join our team in Pinson/Birmingham, AL. Pay Range $25-$30. North American Construction Services, Ltd. is a dynamic subsidiary of Fives North American Combustion and the renowned Fives Group, with over five decades of experience in engineering, fabrication, and construction in industrial thermal processes.

At Fives, we design and construct furnaces, provide retrofits and upgrades, and deliver full lifecycle service and maintenance on industrial equipment. Our mission is to innovate through collaboration and to shape the future of industrial excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Pipe Installation: Install, align, and secure pipes, fittings, and fixtures using hand tools, welding equipment, and other specialized tools according to blueprints, specifications, and building codes.
  • Layout and Measurement: Accurately measure, cut, and thread pipes; interpret blueprints and layout plans to determine configurations and ensure proper alignment.
  • Welding and Joining: Weld, braze, solder, and cement joints to connect pipes and related components; maintain structural integrity and leak-free connections.
  • System Testing: Conduct pressure and leakage tests to ensure integrity; identify and rectify issues promptly while complying with safety and quality standards.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with construction teams, project managers, engineers, and other trades to integrate piping systems within projects.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards to prevent accidents; promote a safety-focused culture on job sites.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Maintain and repair existing piping systems, addressing issues such as corrosion or leaks; replace or repair damaged sections as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational or technical training in pipefitting or a related field is .
  • Relevant certifications, such as welding certifications, are advantageous.
  • Proven experience as a pipefitter with strong understanding of pipe systems, materials, and installation techniques.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
  • Knowledge of welding processes and techniques applicable to pipefitting.
  • Physical stamina and strength for physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials and working in confined spaces.
  • A valid driver"s license and willingness to travel extensively.
  • Ability to travel up to 70% of the time with additional possible travel.
