Job summary

Barhale Holdings Ltd. is seeking a Pipe Fitter/Mains Layer to install, repair and maintain underground water, drainage and utility pipelines for major civil infrastructure projects.

Role requires CAT & Genny certification, CSCS, and experience with water mains installation using concrete or plastic pipes; Banksman ticket and ground shoring equipment experience are highly valued. Willingness to travel and hold a valid driving licence is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • CAT & Genny certification required.
  • CSCS card holders preferred.
  • Experience installing water mains with concrete/plastic pipes.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair and maintain underground water, drainage and utility pipelines for civil infrastructure projects.
  • Interpret water company permit-to-work (PTW) requirements and prepare or review design/drawing packs.
  • Measure, calibrate and ensure correct pipe materials and joints are used.
  • Ensure reinstatement of valves, hydrants and other water network equipment; manage trench digging and backfill accordingly.

Pipe Fitter/Mains Layer
The Role

Installs, repairs and maintains underground water, drainage and utility pipelines, ensuring safe, accurate and efficient construction of civil engineering infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Water company's permit-to-work (PTW) System
  • Water main design drawings, service drawings, and job packs
  • PE pipes with their properties and characteristics
  • Measuring and calibrating water mains
  • Able to distinguish between existing pipe materials and joints
  • Contingency plans and their requirements
  • Correct choice of pipe-cutting equipment
  • Reinstatement of valves, hydrants, and other water network equipment
  • The Importance of bolt torque and recording documentation
  • Digging of trenches to lay pipework, then backfilling
  • CAT & Genny certified to ensure the avoidance of below-ground cables/pipework's
Essential:
  • CAT & Genny (Service Avoidance)
  • CSCS
  • Concrete / Plastic and salt-glazed pipe installing experience.
  • Banksman ticket
  • Installation of ground shoring equipment experience
Desireable:
  • EUSR National Water Hygiene Card (Blue Card)
  • EUSR Utility SHEA (Water) Network process and sewerage network
  • Training in use of Prodrill 20 + 26 to drill water mains
  • Confined spaces (CP1)
  • Asbestos awareness
  • Willing to travel and have a driving licence
