Job summary

Barhale Holdings Ltd is seeking a Skilled Operative to deliver drainage and groundworks across civil engineering projects. You will follow site supervisors’ instructions, operate relevant plant, and perform tasks with a strong emphasis on safety and accuracy.

Essential qualifications include CSCS, CPCS/plant certification, and confined spaces competency. Desirable training covers SSSTS/SMSTS and NRSWA awareness. Barhale offers long-term development within a large UK infrastructure group.

Qualifications

• Essential: CSCS card and site operative competencies.
• Electro fusion butt fusion welding competency required.
• CPCS certification for listed plant; ability to operate/guide equipment.
• Confined Spaces (Medium Risk) competence.
• Cat4 + Genny/Service Avoidance knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Carry out tasks set by site supervisors to high safety standards.
• Understand risk and method statements and follow safe practices.
• Check equipment safety prior to use.
• Install drainage, lay concrete, kerbs, pavements and perform groundworks.
• Maintain a safe and tidy work area; attend site briefings.

Skilled Operative

The Role

To carry out tasks set by site supervisors and gangers to a high level of safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand all relevant risk and method statements
• Use best/safe practice on all tasks carried out
• Checks are conducted on equipment that may be used is safe
• Install drainage, lay concrete, kerbs, and pavements, and carry out excavation and groundworks, digging trenches, loading and unloading materials
• Ensure a safe, tidy place of work
• Implement best practice procedures
• Maximise use of own working time
• Ensure signed up for all permits and briefings before commencing any work
• Communicate with the site supervisor on any concerns
• Feedback to site management with near-miss reporting
• Ensure you attend all site briefings, forums, and toolbox talks
• Deputise for conducting briefings and toolbox talks

Essential:

• Experience in general civil work (earthwork, drainage, ducting, kerbing, and concreting)CSCS card
• Electro fusion butt fusion welding
• Either CPCS forward tipping dumper/ slinger signaller/ride on roller/360 excavator/telehandler
• Confined Spaces (Medium Risk)
• Cat4 + Genny/Service Avoidance
