Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience in gathering material for serious and complex investigations.
• Understanding of the criminal justice system.
• PIP2 accreditation or training path.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with investigators, specialists and managers to develop procedures for gathering material and intelligence.
• Collect material, intelligence and evidence from relevant sources for serious investigations.
• Identify investigative actions considering resources and priorities to meet objectives.
• Assess threat, harm and risk to plan and execute investigations.
• Interview witnesses and suspects and gather information in line with PIP2 standards.
• Use powers to arrest or issue warnings when needed.
• Conduct search and custody procedures to protect the public.
• Support victims with risk assessments and safeguarding where required.
• Analyze evidence and identify offenders from investigation material.
• Seize, examine and retain exhibits in line with policy.
• Address safeguarding concerns and manage case risk.
• Prepare reports and maintain case files with disclosures.
