Job summary

Port of London Authority seeks an experienced professional to support the Marine Pilotage Manager and Deputy. The role focuses on data reporting, compliance, and training coordination for pilotage operations from our Gravesend base.

You will monitor pilot levels, prepare detailed management reports, and maintain risk assessments and method statements, while collaborating across VTS, IT, and operations teams to ensure safe, efficient river pilotage.

Qualifications

  • Essential numeracy, IT proficiency, data processing and analytical skills ideally from a Port or Marine environment.
  • Strong presentation skills for communication with team and stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with colleagues and external service providers.
  • Knowledge of training matrices and confidence in communicating with training suppliers.
  • Ability to discuss and investigate Health & Safety matters.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general support to the Marine Pilotage Manager (MPM) and Deputy Marine Pilotage Manager (DMPM) with assistance from the Assistant Pilotage Support Officer.
  • Create and present detailed reports on Pilotage data to MPM & DMPM.
  • Monitor Pilot levels and report concerns to MPM or DMPM.
  • Maintain Pilotage compliance documentation register.
  • Create and review risk assessments and method statements.
  • Assist with recruitment and training campaigns for pilots and PEC training.
  • Ensure effective communications with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attend operational meetings and deliver Pilotage presentations.
