Job Title: Pilot Technician

Location: Duxford, UK

Hexcel, a global leader in advanced composite materials, is seeking a Pilot Technician to join our team at our Duxford site. With our focus on research, development, and continuous improvement, we are at the forefront of manufacturing carbon fiber, woven reinforcements, resins, prepregs, honeycombs, and additive manufactured parts.

Responsibilities include:

• Performing trials on pilot equipment.
• Maintaining cleanliness and organization of pilot production areas (5S), and reporting trial outcomes.
• Ensuring the safe operation of pilot equipment, identifying risks, and communicating them with recommendations.
• Managing raw materials, consumables, and storing finished samples and products.
• Carrying out defined projects and informing supervisors of potential impacts on project plans.
• Planning technical aspects of work with guidance, supporting sample manufacture and engineering projects.
• Contributing to upgrades of pilot capacity and developing improved work methods.
• Supervising and training peers, managing small projects independently.
• Suggesting workflow and time management improvements, managing personal time effectively.
• Communicating project progress and experimental data through reports and presentations.

Qualifications:

• Ideally HNC or equivalent education, with experience in manufacturing or laboratory settings.
• Understanding of mechanical principles and machine operation.
• Ability to perform daily activities with minimal guidance.
• Proactive, methodical, and safety-conscious approach.
• Reliable with good time management; team-oriented and communicative.
• Interest or experience in automation, robotics, IoT, or Industry 4.0 is a plus.
