Position: Picturehouse Host - CHRISTMAS TEMP/Awards Season. You may be required to work at either Brighton Picturehouse cinema.

Job purpose: To welcome and serve visitors to the cinema in an individual and informed way while delivering the highest standard of customer service. Support the cinema team to promote membership benefits and drive sales, ensuring smooth cinema operations in line with policies and procedures. You will be trained to perform various duties across the cinema, including Box Office, Retail, Usher, Bar and Kitchen duties, with emphasis on customer service in all areas.
Main duties
Customer Service
- Deliver an excellent standard of customer service in line with the Picturehouse Experience Expectations, managing queues effectively and maintaining up-to-date product knowledge to maximise customer enjoyment and encourage repeat visits
- Guide customers to their seats where necessary; verify tickets including for Member card holders
- Respond to verbal customer complaints or queries and resolve or direct as appropriate
- Be knowledgeable about the cinema services and facilities
- Communicate via radios clearly and concisely
- Provide information on performance times, film synopses and classifications
- Be aware of film piracy policy and enforce classifications and identification procedures
- Ensure lost property is delivered to the appropriate area and logged
- Monitor screens for piracy, picture & sound quality, temperature, disturbances and H&S issues
Promoting Sales
- Be knowledgeable of current marketing promotions and raise customer awareness
- Process transactions, memberships and discounts accurately and in line with policy
- Promote Membership through recommendations and upcoming films
- Promote displays using up-to-date POS and rotate stock (FIFO); suggest additional products (e.g., cake with coffee)
- Record wastage correctly by following wastage procedures
Health & Safety
- Follow Food Hygiene Regulations and Health & Safety policies
- Operate equipment trained to use safely and efficiently
- Inform management of any H&S breaches or issues
- Assist with maintenance or repairs as needed
- Open and close all areas with relevant paperwork
- Undertake daily cinema cleaning across areas and manage rubbish
- Keep informed about business changes through meetings and notices
- Adhere to current policies and procedures
- Carry out any other duties reasonably requested
