Job summary

Midlands Hospitals' Choir in Birmingham seeks an experienced Piano Accompanist to support weekly rehearsals and upcoming concert performances from January 2027. The role involves working closely with the Musical Director to maintain rehearsal flow and musical quality across diverse repertoire.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional sight-reading, versatile keyboard skills across classical and popular styles, and a strong sense of ensemble timing.

Qualifications

• Exceptional sight-reading and technique across varied genres.
• Ability to move between classical notation, light pop/jazz, and musical theatre arrangements.
• Experience accompanying choirs or vocal groups with conductor tempo awareness.

Responsibilities

• Accompany weekly Tuesday evening rehearsals (7:15 PM – 9:30 PM) and some all-day rehearsals before concerts.
• Play for at least three main concerts per year.
• Support sectional rehearsals by playing individual vocal parts when required.
• Collaborate with the Musical Director to help singers achieve their best musical standard.
