A prominent healthcare organization in Blackburn is seeking a Physiotherapy - Therapy Clinical Practice Educator. This role involves coordinating and delivering education and training for staff, developing clinical education programs, and maintaining professional standards. MAIN DUTIES
To be responsible for ensuring the development, delivery, coordination, and evaluation of education and training for Band 5/6 staff. Develop innovative clinical education programs in collaboration with education providers, utilizing technology to meet service needs and adapt to the evolving educational landscape. Work with Clinical Service Leads (CSL) and Clinical Team Leads (CTL) to establish comprehensive clinical training within teams and across sites, adhering to evidence-based practices and professional standards (HCPC).
Undertake and facilitate practical and theoretical training, evaluating resource utilization within and outside the trust. Conduct baseline assessments of learning needs using competency frameworks for clinical staff, and evaluate training outcomes to inform continuous improvement. Deliver education on an individual or group basis, planning workload to meet deadlines. Ensure staff develop patient-centered, evidence-based approaches for safe and effective care.
COMMUNICATION
Communicate effectively with clinical staff, CTLs, CSLs, operational leads, and Heads of Service. Liaise with training leaders about individual needs and competencies. Engage with local or national interest groups to share best practices and stay updated on trends. Build relationships within the Directorate to review practice and plan future training. Attend governance meetings and use various communication skills to facilitate and evaluate clinical education. Communicate with senior leadership to secure resources, escalate issues, and provide reports.
TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
Develop learning resources, leveraging digital platforms and SharePoint. Design assessment tools to measure learning outcomes and evaluate their benefits for annual program reviews. Partner with the Professional Development Lead to coach learners and support their professional growth. Assist staff in identifying educational needs to ensure competency across standards. Participate in staff induction, mandatory training, and knowledge sharing. Collaborate with CSLs to assess clinical competence and identify development areas. Organize and participate in mentor training, supporting mentorship across teams, and oversee related meetings and feedback. Support clinical research and audits related to education, liaising with relevant departments. Contribute to continuous professional development activities for staff.
ORGANISATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Contribute to education and training planning, participate in service improvement initiatives, and report incidents per risk management policies. Manage departmental incidents and complaints, and identify risks. Ensure access to mandatory training and maintain records of all training activities, including equipment-specific and safety training. Participate in relevant trust training sessions.
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain professional conduct according to HCPC guidelines and professional standards. Work with the Professional Development Lead to ensure training aligns with practice guidelines. Engage in CPD, maintain competence, and stay updated on current practices and legislation. Uphold accountability for professional actions, adhering to codes of practice and guidelines. Participate in ongoing professional development and maintain awareness of current trends.
