Job description
Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a fixed term Band 3 Physiotherapy Support Worker to join our inpatient physiotherapy team based on the trauma and orthopaedic wards at the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport. The post is part time, 18 hours per week, work pattern to be confirmed.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Responsibilities

The post is predominantly clinical, however there will be an element of non-clinical duties attached to your role. This will include supporting with audits, basic administration and housekeeping duties, stock taking, and using computer based systems i.e. ordering of walking aids. You will work closely with the team of physiotherapists providing rehabilitation for patients during their inpatient stay, optimising their functional recovery.

The Physiotherapy Service encourages staff development; you will be supported to complete appropriate competences relevant to the job role. If the post extends beyond 12 months you will also complete the Agored Level 3 Diploma in Physiotherapy Support, which will enable you to manage your own designated caseload, delivering interventions under the supervision of a Physiotherapist. We have a structured personal appraisal system in place with annual reviews underpinned by the Knowledge and Skills Framework.

  • Experience as a physiotherapy assistant or other relevant support worker role

  • Experience of reflective practice in patient care

Education/Qualification/Training

Essential criteria

  • Good command of English Language and Basic Maths
  • Relevant level of Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB) Physiotherapy Support Worker Training and Education Framework Completed.

Desirable criteria

  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Appropriate Courses
