Physiotherapy Support Workers Band 3.

A fixed term physiotherapy support worker is required by one of the UK’s largest NHS Hospital Trusts working in a range of Physiotherapy teams within the medicine pathway. This includes the specialty medicine wards, complex care, frailty short stay and the Elgar Enablement unit.

The role supports patients to regain their mobility, function and confidence following surgery or illness, providing a range of therapy interventions to facilitate recovery and promote independence.

Main duties of the job
  • Working with a wide variety of patients across the wards
  • Working alongside physiotherapists to deliver therapy to patients and improve patients’ independence
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to facilitate discharge home from hospital
  • Working within the physiotherapy teams where support and training will be provided
Responsibilities

As a Physiotherapy Support Worker, your responsibilities will include:

  • Treating patients referred by physiotherapists, organising and implementing physical treatment sessions from treatment protocols, monitoring patient progress.
  • Monitoring patient’s response to physiotherapy programs, evaluating outcomes and adapting input as appropriate.
  • Liaising with therapy staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Supporting the administration to therapy teams with ordering of equipment, data input and referral.

  • Good Standard of GCSE Education
  • Evidence of Literacy & Numeracy Skills
  • NVQ Level 3 in care or other health/rehab based qualification
Work Experience
  • Previous NHS or Social Care experience
  • Experience of working in a stressful environment
  • Previous physiotherapy technician/assistant experience
