Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and caring individual with good communication and interpersonal skills to join our Emergency Department Therapy Team as the Physiotherapy Team Lead for Same Day Emergency Care. The post holder will need to have previous experience in working in an Emergency Department or Same Day Emergency Care setting, as well as with patients presenting with frailty. A commitment to development is required.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain senior respiratory physiotherapy skills and competence and contribute to supporting respiratory patients within the Same Day Emergency Care setting.
  • Lead and develop therapy services within the Same Day Emergency Care Service (SDEC) at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), working with the band 8a AMU Clinical Lead, band 7 Physiotherapists Leading AMU and Emergency Department, and the equivalent Occupational Therapy band 7s.
  • Support band 7 colleagues with the wider physiotherapy service at QEH.
  • Manage a large clinical caseload, contribute to clinical governance, supervise and develop Band 6, 5, 4 and assistant staff within the Emergency Department Therapy Team.
  • Provide clinical education to undergraduates and coordinate a rolling programme of audit and training within the pathway.
  • Contribute to the development of the SDEC pathway in patient groups including Acute Medicine, Frailty and Falls.
  • Support shift patterns covering 08:00 to 20:00, across a 7 day rota, with a weekend frequency of 1 in 4.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Motivated Physiotherapist seeking progression as a Band 7 Physiotherapist.
  • Experience in Emergency Department or Same Day Emergency Care and with frailty patients.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
Team and Environment

The post holder will work alongside the band 8a AMU Clinical Lead, band 7 Physiotherapists Leading AMU and Emergency Department, as well as the equivalent Occupational Therapy band 7s, to lead and develop therapy services within SDEC at QEH, and support band 7 colleagues with the wider physiotherapy service at QEH. The team currently works extended days.
