Job Title: Healthcare Support Worker - Respiratory Physiotherapy

Do you enjoy working with people in a highly motivated team to improve the physical function of patients in a hospital setting? If so, this could be the job for you!

We have a vacancy for a Healthcare Support Worker in the respiratory physiotherapy team. Working within a dynamic team, you will collaborate with physiotherapists in assessing and treating various patient groups. You will also independently assess patients’ mobility, function, and ability to perform activities of daily living. You will provide exercise programmes and facilitate discharge plans to help patients achieve their rehabilitation goals.

The Respiratory team covers wards including critical care, respiratory, post-surgical, and medical units, offering excellent variety and opportunities to work in early rehabilitation of complex patients with significant medical and surgical needs. As part of a multidisciplinary team—including medical staff, nurses, occupational therapists, and healthcare support workers—you will experience collaborative and progressive working in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Requirements

• Health-related HNC and/or SVQ Level 3 qualification, or relevant training and experience equivalent to this
• Health or social care experience in a physiotherapy or related environment, with clinical experience working with patients
• Basic knowledge of common surgical, medical, and respiratory conditions; experience in post-operative rehabilitation, teaching exercises, and provision of walking aids is beneficial
• Excellent communication skills, responsibility, and team ethos
• Basic IT skills, including use of electronic patient records, word processing, spreadsheets, and internet
