We have a vacancy for a Healthcare Support Worker in the respiratory physiotherapy team. Working within a dynamic team, you will collaborate with physiotherapists in assessing and treating a variety of patient groups. You will also independently assess patients' mobility, function, and ability to perform activities of daily living. You will provide exercise programs and facilitate discharge plans to help patients achieve their rehabilitation goals.
The Respiratory team covers various wards including critical care, respiratory wards, post-surgical wards, and medical wards. This environment offers excellent variety and opportunities to work in early rehabilitation of complex patients with significant medical or surgical needs. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, including medical staff, nurses, occupational therapists, and healthcare support workers, you will experience collaborative and progressive work in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications include (or working towards) a health-related HNC and/or SVQ Level 3, or relevant training and experience equivalent to this. Prior health or social care experience in a physiotherapy or related environment, with clinical experience working with patients, is essential. Basic knowledge of common surgical, medical, and respiratory conditions, along with experience in postoperative rehabilitation, teaching exercises, and providing walking aids, is beneficial. Excellent communication skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and a good team ethic are essential. Basic IT skills are required for tasks such as electronic patient records, word processing, updating spreadsheets, and internet use.
