Southampton FC Women has seen a meteoric growth in the past few seasons. With a thriving academy already providing new talent for the club and the creation of a Women’s first team ahead of the 2017/18 season, was the beginning of a prosperous rise into senior football.
Our Women’s first team are full time professionals based at the famous and well known Staplewood Campus and also play their home games at St Mary’s Stadium.
Our ambition is to become a competitive WSL team in the future and in order to achieve this we are looking for a Physiotherapist for the Women’s First Team, who will also manage/oversee the other performance roles within the department.

What is the role?

We are looking for someone to lead, manage and deliver a first-class Physiotherapy & Injury Prevention service to all Women’s First Team players and to support the performance team in the girls’ programme. This role will also include performance management and ensuring the team and individuals optimise performance to compete in the highest domestic league and at international level.

What will you be doing?

In this role you will lead in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of all Women’s First Team players by producing progressive injury rehabilitation programmes based on our principles as well as leading on the smooth running of an injury prevention programme utilising the department's physiotherapists, sports science staff and students.

Through conducting monthly clinical audits/reports and reviewing documentation, you will ensure injuries are managed effectively and will work with the Medical Team and Doctors to fulfil comprehensive medical reports on each player (particularly pre-signing medical examinations) in line with legislation, policies, and procedures. This will go in hand with designing and supporting individual performance plans to aid player development and progression.

Although primarily working with the woman’s First Team you will also support the Performance Team in the Professional Game Academy (PGA) and oversea the Girls and Woman’s medical budget and performance staff to ensure the best use of resources.

You will be a leader within the team with the ability to recognise and appropriately reward team members who are doing great work but you will also be able to manage team members when performance is poor in a constructive manner, addressing concerns quickly to ensure no disruption to the team and a positive team dynamic.

With a holistic approach you will foster a collaborative environment for all departments within the teams, ensuring coaching staff, sports science staff and psychology staff are working in a productive manner. Additionally, you will build relationships with international performance teams to aid player welfare and development throughout the domestic and international season.
