Job summary

Military Medical Personnel is seeking a Locum Physiotherapist (Band 6) to cover a short-term MoD assignment at Pirbright Medical Centre, Woking, Surrey. The role is 30 hours per week and focuses on delivering high-quality MSK care to MoD personnel in a demanding environment.

The successful candidate will assess and treat MSK conditions, work within the MDT, and ensure evidence-based practice while maintaining safety and professional standards.

Qualifications

  • Must be HCPC registered and MCSP member.
  • Degree or diploma in Physiotherapy with MSK postgraduate training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide independent skilled physiotherapy assessment and treatment for an MSK caseload.
  • Work with Consultants/GPs and other professionals, handle diverse and complex cases.
  • Collaborate with the MDT to maintain high standards of care.
  • Use clinical reasoning to diagnose and develop evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Communicate with patients to obtain informed consent and support rehabilitation.
  • Provide clinical reports and discharge planning as required.
  • Contribute to audits and ensure safe use of equipment and records.

Job summary

We are looking for a Locum Physiotherapist (Band 6) to cover an assignment with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), at Pirbright Medical Centre, in Woking, Surrey.

This is a locum role (30 hours per week) and the successful candidate will deliver an exceptional standard of care to the MoD service personnel.

Pay rate
  • PAYE £27.05 (£24.14 + £2.91 holiday pay) per hour
  • Umbrella - £31.11 per hour
Main duties of the job
  • To provide independent highly skilled physiotherapeutic assessment, treatment and efficient and effective management of an MSK caseload under supervision (Band 7 Clinical Specialist or Medical Officer (MO)).
  • To manage patients referred by Consultants, General Practitioners and other Healthcare Professionals with diverse presentations and complex and acute/chronic physical conditions and sports injuries.
  • To work closely with other members of the Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) to ensure the highest standards of care.
  • To use clinical reasoning skills to provide an accurate clinical diagnosis.
  • To formulate, develop and deliver a specialised individualised treatment programme based upon evidence-based practice, manual assessment and appropriate clinical reasoning
  • To communicate effectively with patients to ensure informed consent for assessment and treatment, good understanding of their conditions and maximise their rehabilitation potential accepting that patients may have barriers to communication e.g. English as their second language.
  • To communicate effectively with all other rehabilitation and unit personnel and with external medical personnel from other agencies/units.
  • To advise the Medical Officer and/or other rehab clinicians with regard to specialist physiotherapy recommendations.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • Must be HCPC Registered.
  • Must be a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (MCSP).
  • Must have a Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy.
  • Must have experience working at post-graduate diploma level in the assessment and treatment of muscular-skeletal disorders, sports injuries, orthopaedic conditions, mobilisation and manipulation.
  • Must have a minimum of two years post graduate clinical experience in MSK disorders. This shall be evidenced within the CV.
  • Must have previously held a position as a Specialist Physiotherapist Band 6 or equivalent.
  • Must have evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
