Job Description:

AFC Wimbledon Women are looking to recruit a dedicated, self-motivated, and knowledgeable individual interested in entering the progressive world of women’s football at Tier 3, working with elite female footballers.

We are seeking Chartered Physiotherapists, Sports Therapists, or Sports Rehabilitators to join our Medical department. The Medical Therapist plays a key role in AFC Wimbledon Women’s long-term vision.

The successful candidate will work within a Tier 3 women’s football club, providing physiotherapy and rehabilitation services for all women’s players from the 1st team, with occasional involvement with pathway players.

Candidates should be flexible with working hours, including weekends, midweek sessions, and occasional overnight stays. This role offers great opportunities for proactive individuals passionate about football, with internal CPD and ongoing professional development to stay current with industry literature and practice.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide emergency first aid during training and match days
• Conduct clinical assessments of injured players prior to games
• Maintain detailed injury and treatment records and upload them to our platform
• Communicate regularly with coaches, strength and conditioning staff, and players regarding injuries and player availability
• Participate in in-house CPD sessions
• Support the development of junior therapists within the women’s pathway
• Ensure compliance with club policies including health and safety, equality, safeguarding, and confidentiality

Qualifications and requirements:

• BSc degree in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation
• HCPC/BASRaT/SST registration
• In-date EMFA qualification (and commitment to annual reaccreditation)
• Willingness to work with high-level athletes, managing injuries and rehabilitation plans
• Medical insurance suitable for treating semi-professional women’s footballers
• Ability to participate in football at a high level
• MSc in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation
