Job Description:

AFC Wimbledon Women are looking to recruit a dedicated, knowledgeable individual eager to enter women’s football at Tier 3, working with elite female footballers.

We seek Chartered Physiotherapists, Sports Therapists, or Sports Rehabilitators to join our Medical department. The Medical Therapist plays a vital role in AFC Wimbledon's long-term vision.

The successful candidate will work within a Tier 3 women’s football club, providing physiotherapy and rehabilitation for all women’s players from the 1st team, with occasional involvement with pathway players.

Candidates should be flexible with working hours, including weekends, midweek sessions, and occasional overnight stays. This role offers opportunities for internal CPD, staying current with literature, understanding scope of practice, and enhancing practical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide emergency first aid during training and matches
• Assess injured players clinically before games
• Maintain detailed injury and treatment records, uploading to our platform
• Communicate regularly with coaches, S&C team, and players about injuries and availability
• Participate in in-house CPD sessions
• Support the development of junior therapists within the women’s pathway
• Ensure compliance with club policies including health & safety, equality, safeguarding, and confidentiality

Qualifications and requirements include:

• BSc degree in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation
• HCPC/BASRaT/SST registration
• In-date EMFAif qualification (and commitment to annual reaccreditation)
• Willingness to work with high-level athletes, managing injuries and rehabilitation
• Medical insurance suitable for semi-professional women’s footballers
• Ability to play or participate in football at a high level
• MSc in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation
