Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated Band 6 Physiotherapist with experience working with individuals with learning disabilities. This is a full-time community service role providing physiotherapy intervention, management, and advice for adults with learning disabilities in their residence or within other day services.

The successful candidate will join the Integrated Learning Disability Service in the London Borough of Enfield, focusing on addressing both health and social well-being needs of adults with learning disabilities.

The candidate for this role will:

  • Provide a high standard of physiotherapy service to adults with learning disabilities, their families, and carers, considering the needs of a diverse population.
  • Act as a resource of specialist advice to the staff of the Integrated Learning Disabilities Service and other physiotherapists in Enfield, promoting best practices.
  • Work with local community groups on health promotion projects to enhance physical health.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary health screening initiatives for early detection and treatment of health issues, aiding care planning and safe transfer to adult services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assess the physical needs of adults with learning disabilities and establish appropriate treatment programs.
  • Manage a caseload of clients with specific needs.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary assessment and treatment.
  • Select and apply physiotherapy assessments, addressing skill deficits and promoting independence.
  • Work with clients to identify physiotherapy goals as part of their care plans.
  • Plan and implement individual or group interventions using graded activities.
  • Monitor and modify treatments to measure progress and ensure effectiveness.
  • Provide advice on lifestyle changes and environmental adaptations.
  • Identify unmet needs and advise the physiotherapy team leader.
  • Support and educate clients and carers about physiotherapy aspects, including equipment and rehab programs.
  • Assess the need for mobility aids and equipment, ensuring safety and proper use.
