Job summary

Chelsea and Westminster Foundation Trust is seeking a band 6 physiotherapist to join the stroke and neurology therapy team at West Middlesex for 10 months. You will provide high standard physiotherapy to stroke/neurology patients on the ward and inpatients, working in collaboration with the MDT to achieve patient-centred goals.

The post offers autonomous practice in neurological assessment and treatment within an acute hospital setting, with involvement in discharge planning and service

Qualifications

  • Evidence of CPD and relevant post graduate courses.
  • Experience as an autonomous therapist in Neurology or stroke care.
  • Experience in an acute care setting.
  • Demonstrates advanced clinical reasoning skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high standard physiotherapy to neurologically impaired patients.
  • Collaborate with patients, carers and the MDT to achieve goals.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic band 6 physiotherapist to join Chelsea and Westminster Foundation Trust in the stroke and neurology therapy team at West Middlesex for 10 months., To provide a high standard physiotherapy service to neurologically impaired patients at West Middlesex Hospital To work closely with patients and their carers, other disciplines and services, to identify and realise desired and achievable goals, and optimise wellbeing, Independence and quality of life To work with clients with stroke who are inpatients at West Middlesex Hospital. This includes specialist client assessment, treatment and ongoing rehabilitation, working towards client centred goals in the context of Stroke Rehabilitation and as part of the multi-disciplinary team. To work as an autonomous practitioner in providing specialist stroke and neurological assessment and treatment to own designated caseload of patients and to maintain up to date therapy records.   • Evidence of other roles and responsibilities, e.g. committee membership, Chairing meetings
    This post would be suited to either an experienced band 5 physiotherapist or a band 6 physiotherapist with stroke / neurology experience within a diverse and friendly team., BSc or Diploma in Occupational therapy/ Physiotherapy
  • HPC registration
  • Evidence of CPD and relevant post graduate courses, Experience working as an autonomous qualified therapist in Neurology or stroke care
  • Experience of working in an acute care setting
  • Experience working as an autonomous qualified therapist in other relevant clinical areas e.g. respiratory, medicine, elderly care
  • Experience working with people who have had a Stroke
  • Evidence of close working with all members of the multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of complex discharge planning in the NHS
  • Experience of supervision and teaching of assistants, students and other members of MDT, Demonstrates specialist knowledge of Neurological assessment and treatment skills
  • Demonstrates clear understanding of the pressures of acute working in the NHS
  • Demonstrates advanced clinical reasoning skills
  • Able to self-evaluate and utilise opportunities to develop self
