Job description

Please note, we are NOT offering sponsorship for this position

Interviews for this position will be held on Wednesday 27th August

We are looking for a Physiotherapy Technician who is motivated to work with the older population and has an interest in healthy ageing. Timely rehabilitative input helps to maintain the best level of mobility and therefore independence, for our residents. In this role you would support the registered Physiotherapy staff by carrying out rehabilitation alongside and under the direction of the Physiotherapists. This would include mobility and exercise activities, assisting with specific patient treatments and using specialist equipment as advised.

After a period of training in the post you would be given a list of residents to treat on a daily basis. Treatment plans and guidance would be provided by Physiotherapists. You would be required to be able to prioritize clinical work and balance other resident related and professional activities in accordance with your own caseload. You would need to be able to work independently and liaise with Physiotherapy staff as needed, as there will not always be a qualified Physiotherapist present on the same site, therefore due to the dispersed nature of the role, a full driving UK driving licence and access to use of a car is essential.

Tasks and Responsibilities;
  • To provide Physiotherapist lead rehabilitation for the residents of Bristol Care Homes, liaising with Physiotherapist / Physiotherapy Manager as appropriate for progression of treatment plans.
  • Identifying residents who require additional specialist input or a wheelchair assessment and reporting to Physiotherapy Manager.
  • Seeking support appropriately as needed from Clinical Supervisor / Physiotherapy Manager.
  • To teach and supervise exercises and mobility for those residents who required initial assessment by the qualified Physiotherapist but are independently managing an exercise plan.
  • To manage own caseload of patients as referred by physiotherapists, implementing and progressing treatment programmes.
  • To report any rehab equipment issues / maintenance needs to Physiotherapy Manager.
  • Documenting all treatment sessions.
