Job description

Trent Bridge, the home of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, is looking to recruit a Physiotherapist to work as part of the Sports Science and Medicine department with the responsibility for providing high-quality Physiotherapy services to the Academy and Pathway players. The successful candidate will be driven and passionate about the delivery of high-quality Physiotherapy supporting elite athletes and maximising player health, wellbeing whilst optimising performance.

You will be able to demonstrate and interest and experience within both Musculo-Skeletal and Sports Physiotherapy, with experience in the provision of physiotherapy services to developing athletes including sports trauma provision, high-quality injury rehabilitation and injury prevention programs.

The successful candidate will be a current member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and ideally have at least 3-4 years’ experience as a qualified physiotherapist and have previous experience of working in sporting environments.

This is a full-time position with evening and weekend work during the cricket season (April to September) will be a requirement of the role. Although allowances for external work will be considered during the winter period

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the Head of Science and Medicine (HSM) in the provision of physiotherapy services to Nottinghamshire CCC Academy and pathway during fixtures and training sessions throughout the season.

Providing physiotherapy services at Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club Second XI fixtures and first XI fixtures when required.

Leading in the delivery of Physiotherapy services to Academy and EPP players including appropriate screening, attendance at academy training sessions.

Working closely with the HSM, you will carry out rehabilitation and injury prevention strategies for all players, and undertake regular profiling and testing of players, constructing and implementing injury prevention programmes.

Liaising with other members of the SS&M, the wider MDT and external practitioners in the support of athlete health and wellbeing.

Support the HSM in the delivery of high standards of clinical governance in line with ECB annual review process.

In addition, the successful candidate will be required to undergo enhanced disclosure checks with the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Matchday and training support within The Blaze women’s program as schedule permits at additional daily rate.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

  • The successful candidate will be a current member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and
  • 3-4 years of experience of working independently as a qualified physiotherapist ideally within musculoskeletal physiotherapy and have previous experience of working in professional sporting environments.
  • Experience in the delivery of matchday physical preparation, focusing readiness to perform and injury prevention.
  • Ongoing record of CPD relevant to the role.
  • Understanding of specific safeguarding and health and safety polices specific to the role.
  • An understanding and experience of delivering projects within an equity, diversity, and inclusion framework.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels to include other medical professionals, players and coaching staff.
  • High level of confidentiality and discretion
  • Ability to work autonomously whilst being flexible and adaptable to changing situations.
  • Successful applicant must hold a full UK driving license

Desirable

  • Current Sports Trauma Qualification and/or emergency care accreditation (Lubas, FA, RFU or equivalent). If qualification not current, candidate will be expected to complete at the earliest opportunity.
  • Post graduate qualification (or working towards) in Sports Physiotherapy/Rehab or Sport Science disciplines.
  • Appropriate training and experience in the delivery of Acupuncture and Pilates, specific to a sporting environment an advantage.
  • Knowledge and skills working on software packages inc, Microsoft word/excel along with GPS and athlete management software applications.
  • Experience working in a similar sporting organisation and knowledge of the cricket environment will be a distinct advantage.
  • Experience in the development and analysis of injury surveillance data with subsequent implementation of effective interventions.
